West Edmonton Playschool Society
Play is our essential part of our learning. Through play children are able to develop social, cognitive and physical skills. Our goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where children are able to be and explore. We also have some structure objectives in which we encourage preparing for kindergarten.
The children learn early literacy, fine motor skills in early writing, through journals and worksheets. We are also Spanish Bilingual where we introduce a few basic spanish words and songs to our 4 year olds. Children will learn how to interact with their peers, basic safety learning and learn new routines.
Kitchen, dress-up, sensory play with our new sand and water table, creative play through arts & crafts, mindfulness through our in-house bi-monthly yoga, baking…and lots more.
Field trips we’ve done in the past
- Musical Munchkins (in house)
- The Bread Lady (in house)
- Police Officer Visit
- Edmonton Zoo
- Discovery Land at Telus World of Science
- Fort Edmonton Park
- WEM under the sea AND many more!

What Parents Are Saying
We’re proud to be a trusted part of the West Edmonton community.
Here’s what parents love about West Edmonton Playschool.
Yes, my daughter did academic things here but for me it was dropping her off somewhere I knew she was loved and cared for. Her excitement and true genuine joy seeing her teachers day after day is the biggest selling point for me. The ability to recognize letters, spell her name, speak some Spanish now, show me all sorts of different yoga poses, and sharing all the fun things she does on the in school field trips is just an added bonus to the security I have as a mother when dropping her off.Posted on Google Robbi Goulet Our child is a Covid-baby, born in the midst of the pandemic, so we were naturally concerned with how they would do away from us for their first time. West Edmonton Play School’s teachers, Mrs.Cyr, Mrs. Collins and Miss Love each provided an experience to our child where he was treated with respect, kindness and an opportunity to grow and discover who he was in these early education years. He loved his time there, from the 3 year old program to the 4 year old program and setting him up to easily assimilate into Kindergarten. He went in to Kindergarten very well prepared because of the attention and efforts that the educators at WEPS gave him. The educators in particular harboured a strong sense of community that went directly from them to the children and right through to the parents. The educators there have set the bar very high for our family and we are so thankful that they were our son’s introduction to education and thankful for the care they provided him, making us feel that he was in safe hands, as we could see that he was loved as if he was their own. A wonderful school with wonderful teachers. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Posted on Google Devin Vasquez The friendly staff and facility helped my son open up to the idea of "school". His days are fun and he wakes up looking forward to going to school. This program has helped increase his readiness and excitement for kindergarten next year.Posted on Google Garvin Duncan We had a wonderful experience with West Edmonton Playschool for my son, Wafiq. Before joining, he used to be very irritable at home—crying a lot, getting upset easily, and often fighting with his sister and even with us as parents. It was quite challenging for our family. After enrolling him in the playschool, we noticed a remarkable positive change in his behavior. In the beginning, he did cry during the first few days in class, which we expected. But very quickly, he adjusted and started enjoying his time there. Now, he is always excited to go to school. Every morning, he happily gets ready and looks forward to his day. His mood at home has improved significantly—he is calmer, more cheerful, and much more cooperative with everyone. One moment that really touched us was when he said, “Of course I want to go to school—I want to draw!” and proudly told us, “I didn’t cry whole day!” That says everything about how comfortable and happy he feels there. We are truly grateful to the teachers and staff for their care, patience, and supportive environment. It has made a big difference in our son’s development and happiness. Highly recommended for any parent looking for a nurturing and positive start for their child.Posted on Google Sohag Milon The teachers at WEPS are absolutely incredible. Mrs Cyre is always so patient with all of the kids. I was beyond impressed when my 3 year old daughter started recognizing the spelling of her name. I loved volunteering with the bread lady during one class and learning with the kids about grains. The magic show at the end of the year was a highlight for our whole family.Posted on Google annika keith West Edmonton play school is absolutely wonderful! I have 2 boys one attended the 3 and 4 year old program and he loved it. I was pleased to see Mrs. Cyre still teaching over 9 years later for my second son to attend the 3 year old program. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a safe, fun and over all amazing play school.Posted on Google Nicole Johnson Three of my grandchildren attended this school. I am a retired teacher and found this school to be an excellent introduction to a learning environment. The teachers provide a welcoming, caring and kind environment for learning and making new friends. Children who attend this school are well prepared to be successful in kindergarten.Posted on Google June McNeil Our third child is now going through the amazing program at West Edmonton Play School and I couldn’t recommend them enough. Each of our kids have graduated this Playschool and gone on to Kindergarten well ahead of the curve, and at least 3 months ahead of the curriculum. The teachers are incredible and do an amazing job of catering to each of our child’s individual personalities and needs. They have played a crucial part in helping them grow and be prepared for kindergarten.Posted on Google Jeff Funston Highly recommend this playschool ! The teachers are absolutely fantastic .
